Garlick: New signings have to wait

14/ 5/2002

SOCCER: Macclesfield Town will not be dipping into the transfer market in the near future.

The Silkmen are looking to balance their books, with restraints getting tighter as the ITV Digital stalemate looks set to continue after the league clubs decided to pursue the matter in the High Court today (Tuesday).

Macclesfield chairman Colin Garlick told mtfc.co.uk: "Right at the moment there are very few Nationwide League sides who are dipping into the transfer market.

"Some, who have been lucky financially or are well backed are starting to make moves but it is certainly the exception rather than the rule.

"We may well have a clearer picture after the league chairman's meeting this Friday. One of the items on the agenda is an update into the ITV Digital situation but it is unlikely that any real resolution will be reached and there will certainly be no movement before then."
