Draw is hard earned point

24/12/2001

SOCCER: Macc boss Dave Moss says the Silkmen's 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury was a good result, as his side face up to their Boxing Day clash with Halifax Town.

Lee Glover's goal was enough to earn a point at Gay Meadow on Friday night and with the West Ham game looming over Macc, Moss is happy his side are giving their all in the league.

Moss told manchesteronline: ''The determination of everyone was remarkable. We've got four players on four bookings and Priest and Hitchen on nine bookings.

''But they were as competitive as ever and will need to remain so as we have got more games to come starting next week.

''We worked hard, competed and made three or four great chances in the game, forcing their keeper to make some great saves.''

''I've told everyone that even talking about the West Ham game will warrant a fine.''

Next up is Halifax, followed by high-flying Mansfield before West Ham arrive at the Moss.

''Both sides will pose problems. This division is very tight. Halifax will be very different, a strong side. Mansfield are a good competitive side and under Billy Dearden it will be a match to watch,'' Moss added.

Out for Macc is Kyle Lightbourne, who suffered a reoccurrence of his foot injury against Shrewsbury. However, Ricky Lambert - who didn't return for the second half - is expected to have recovered from his dead leg.
