Clubs ponder futures of loan stars
18/12/2001
SOCCER: Both Macclesfield and Shrewsbury are considering the futures of their loan stars ahead of the Friday night game.
Silkmen boss Dave Moss is attempting to extend the loan of Bolton Wanderers Jeff Smith, whose one-month deal expires after the Gay Meadow clash.
Shrewsbury are also hoping to extend their deal with Barnsley forward Rory Fallon, as the Tykes this week picked up Everton's Danny Cadamarteri on loan.
One man who will not be featuring for Shrewsbury is Rochdale striker David Flitcroft, who was a failed target of manager Kevin Ratcliffe.
The hosts will not be without firepower though. Youngster Luke Rodgers has proved a scoring sensation with 13 goals this season, a record which apparently sparked a big-money offer from Wigan Athletic.
Meanwhile, Macc's West Ham cup clash looks set to be a 6,335 sell-out with 1,900 happy Hammers heading north for the game. Tickets are on sale to season ticket or voucher holders this week.
The Rushden & Diamonds away clash has been rearranged to January 29 - it was scheduled for 24 hours before the FA Cup third round.
