Cup fever hits Macc

17/12/2001

SOCCER: Fans descended on Moss Rose today (Monday) as tickets went on sale for the West Ham cup clash.

Fans queued across the ground's car park, desperate to get a ticket for the third round cup clash.

A club spokesman told Silkmen Online: "It's great to see the queues forming like this.

"We've not had this much interest in a game here since we played Manchester City.

"There were people waiting before we all turned up at 9am, which we had expected but still came as a bit of a shock.

"Everyone is really excited about the game and we all hope it captures the imagination of the people in the town.

"We're pretty confident that it will be a sell out and we hope that the public show as much interest in our two games on Boxing Day and the 29th."

The spokesman said that tickets are only available to season ticket or voucher holders this week - vouchers were dished out at the Leyton Orient clash at the weekend.

The spokesman added: "Supporters are reminded that there will only be one ticket issued per voucher but people can bring as many vouchers as they wish.

"Cup voucher and season ticket holders have until 1pm on Saturday to claim their ticket.

"After this point they will not be guaranteed a ticket for this game."
