Late try seals Macc win

3/12/2001

RU: Macclesfield 21 Chester 19

A JAMIE Miller injury time try settled this dramatic Cheshire derby.

Macclesfield snatched the win after seemingly blowing a 13-0 half time lead.

In the opening half, Macc's forwards provided the ball which sent Miller over out wide for his first five-pointer.

He was followed over the try-line by John Plant and a penalty from Phil Macey seemed to have sewn things up by the interval.

But in the second half Chester forced Macclesfield on to the back foot.

Chester kicked two penalties, in response to one from the hosts, before the sin-binning of skipper Gary Bostock allowed the visitors to grab an unlikely lead.

That was before Miller raced over again to settle the match at the death.
