Smith back as Macc look for first win at Plainmoor

SOCCER: Jeff Smith is set to return for Macclesfield's basement battle at Torquay United on Saturday.

The winger - signed on a month's loan from Bolton Wanderers - was cup-tied for the midweek marathon at Forest Green Rovers and looks set to start, as boss Dave Moss considers changing a couple of faces in his weary squad.

Moss will also be aware the Silkmen have yet to win at Plainmoor.

The south coast outfit, who are one place and two points above Macc, have bolstered their squad with the return of an old face.

Striker Greg Goodridge returns to Plainmoor after a spell at Bristol City.

Meanwhile, it's been confirmed that Macc's 24-penalty shoot-out with Forest Green Rovers is a record for the FA Cup.

The competition was so tight between the two sides that both teams used up all their players at the penalty spot and the original spot kick takers had to return to action.

Macc fans who made the trip down south should note the £1.50 programmes on sale on the night now have an estimated value of £20.

The second round tie at Moss Rose is not all-ticket and fans can pay on the gate.

However, season ticket holders must reserve their places before 5pm on December 7 or risk losing their customary seat.

The ticket office remains open during normal office hours, although tickets can be bought up until 7pm on December 6.
