SOCCER: Lee Glover explains that being out injured isn't fun, but life is easier with the club's physio around...
(During the Luton game) As I was out injured, like you I watched from the stands.
Being injured is depressing but the physio keeps you going. Andy has a tight schedule for all inured players. He is meticulous and plans everything.
During this schedule you are worked on various training methods. One which is used a lot is swimming, the physio joining the lads in the pool, in his 'Speedo's'.
This seems ok till you notice he doesn't swim and never gets his hair wet.
Many times the boys have said 'we have got some Timotei with us ANDY'.
The physio remains wet only up to his slightly growing waistline.
From here the lads have a weights circuit, some running and to finish a couple of hundred sit-ups.
Then it is back to the ground to finish with some treatment on your injury. The whole day is choreographed and appreciated by the lads.
Recently he joined the senior card school. Sir John, K.K. and I have shown him how to play 'hearts', unfortunately he has not won a game yet and is out of pocket.
We have told him 'it is not about the winning it is the taking part'.
Seriously though, Andy puts in more hours then anybody else on the staff, his rehab work is excellent and he is good to have around the changing room.
I am off now to see if I have any gentle shampoo for the physio's 'barnet' because he might just duck under the water...
