Howarth commits to the Ireland match

31/10/2001

SOCCER: Neil Howarth is the first big name from the Silkmen's recent glory days to commit himself to a return to the Moss Rose on Tuesday November 13.

Ex-boss Sammy McIlroy will be bringing his Northern Ireland team to Macc as part of the deal that took the Ulsterman back to manage his home country.

Macc chief executive Colin Garlick has confirmed the Silkmen are trying to bring back as many top names as possible for the big night.

Efe Sodje, Steve Payne, Steve Wood, Neil Sorvel and Pedro Matias have all been invited though the final decision will rest with their present clubs.

McIlroy said: "Hopefully it will be a good exciting game with plenty of goals for the fans.

"It will be great to go back, I had some fantastic times there obviously. I have been looking forward to it."

Fans can pay on the night or buy tickets in advance for what could be a night to remember at the Moss.
