Rushden come in for Glover

31/10/2001

SOCCER: Macclesfield have turned down a bid from third division rivals Rushden and Diamonds for leading scorer Lee Glover.

Silkmen chief executive Colin Garlick confirmed the bid had been a genuine offer but said it was an insufficient amount.

No figure has been made public by Rushden manager Brain Talbot whose side is owned by wealthy Dr Martens benefactor, Max Griggs

Glover, who has his family home near to the Rushden ground, has hit the net nine times to date this season.

Macc fans will see the refusal as a sign of the club's determination to hold onto their key players.
