D-day looms for Keen

29/10/2001

SOCCER: A decision on appointing a permanent manager at Macclesfield Town is expected later this week.

Kevin Keen and John Askey - who have been running the club since Gil Prescott released the management reins to take over as director of football - are hoping to get the nod on a permanent basis.

D-day appears to be looming as chairman Eddie Furlong has called a board meeting later this week to make a decision on the matter.

At the same time, reports are linking the Moss Rose club with ex-Tranmere Rovers boss John Aldridge.

But despite the Aldridge rumour and four defeats for the present set-up, the board feel Keen and Askey have been hindered by a cruel run of luck regards injuries.
