Byrne to start at Exeter?

SOCCER: Chris Byrne is vying for a starting place against Exeter City.

The classy midfielder looks to be fully recovered from an injury he picked up in August during the Worthington Cup tie with Bradford City.

With Kevin Keen struggling with a thigh strain and doubtful for the Exeter clash, Byrne looks set to return.

Meanwhile, Macclesfield will be looking to improve on their recent record against Exeter City.

Last season they lost 2-0 at home in September 2000, while the away fixture brought a goal-less draw in February.

Exeter's star man is Sean McCarthy - the former Plymouth hitman will be looking for goals to help the Grecians fight for survival.
