Promotion still Bollington goal

3/ 9/2001

CRICKET: Prestbury are still seeking to trim promotion rival Bredbury's 12-point advantage.

They visited the recreation ground on Saturday for another local derby. Barney Cutbill won the toss and invited Bollington to bat.

This looked a good decision with Gary Wood, Glyn Genders and Paul Holtappel back in the shed with only 27 on the board. Cutbill himself being the main destroyer with three for 24.

Dale Mason and Rob Murdoch rallied for Bollington with 19 and 29 respectively.

The best batting for Bollington came from Mike Bunting with a very patient innings of 40 - he was supported by Ged Lickerman with 20.

Bollington finished on 152 all out when a score of 180 or more would have done justice to the wicket.

This was a good fielding performance from Bollington. Two games still remain with 12 points needed to be made up on Bredbury to gain promotion.

This week Bolliington are at home to local rivals Pott Shrigley for what should be a real cracker.

The lads from Pott also need points so we should be in for a good afternoon's entertainment.
