We'd like to apologise to the fans for poor display

SOCCER: Macclesfield's Lee Glover speaks of his disappointment at his side's start ...
"After a good performance against Bradford, then a point against Rushden we put in a terrible display at Mansfield.
"The squad would like to apologise to the fans who travelled through the bank holiday traffic to watch us.
"It was very poor and we all hold our hands up for the display.
"We will all endeavour to make Saturday's display one to remember for all the right reasons.
"That aside, on the bus or in the changing room the lads share their sweets, drinks and food as you should do in the company of friends.
"But something disturbing happened recently which I thought should be brought to the notice of the fans.
"Our goalkeeper Lee Martin takes some stick for being a typical Yorkshireman - a bit tight. I totally disagreed with this until a current mystery was resolved.
"At our training ground we have a toaster that enables the boys to have a snack before or after training.
"I noticed that Lee always has jam on his toast, but I was unable to locate the pot. I looked everywhere to no avail.
"So yesterday I decided to sit quietly and watch. Low and behold out popped the 'Hartleys' from Lee's glovebag!
"In a flash he had applied the jam and the pot was back in his bag.
"The whole move was synchronised like an SAS attack. I looked on in disbelief, lost for words then promptly told the lads. As you can imagine Lee was given some stick!
"Also last week, there was a whisper at the ground that our very own Danny Adams was to ask his girlfriend for her hand in marriage.
"Danny is normally a very laid back character but this week he was a nervous wreck!
"He had picked the ring and was taking Claire out for a meal for the proposal.
"Danny's stomach was in knots as he got ready for the moment - just as the coffee was served.
"Thankfully Claire said yes and all the lads wish them both all the best.
"That's all for this week. I'm off now to go through Lee's glove bag and see what other goodies he is hiding from us!
