Hammers physio: 'I don't think di Canio will ready this weekend'

3/ 1/2001

SOCCER: West Ham's physio John Green admits Paolo di Canio is unlikely to be risked at Macclesfield.

Medic John Green told the Hammers' website the Italian and midfielder Michael Carrick will probably not face the Silkmen due to troublesome injuries.

Green said: "Michael blocked a shot against Liverpool towards the latter part of the game and it caused a bit of a medial ligament strain in his knee so we don't think he will play against Macclesfield.

"Paolo basically had a strained hamstring just above the knee so he can't extend himself at the moment.

"Glenn took the decision to leave him out and I don't think he will be ready this weekend either, but he should be okay for Leicester. We can't afford to lose anyone for any length of time."
