Everyone’s a winner

Poynton Junior Football Club’s fourth annual Soccer Sixes tournament proved to be a winner in every way.
The competition, held in association with Umbro International last weekend, saw more than 300 teams from England and Wales take part.
Despite the rain and wind over the weekend, the money raised at Poynton High School will aid sports development in the local community.
In addition the event raised more than £1,200 for MedEquip4Kids thanks to raffle ticket sales and Rod Pimlott’s refereeing of 50 different clubs over the two days.
That money will help the premature baby unit at Stepping Hill Hospital.
On the pitch, Poynton’s boys U-10s won their competition. The other winners were: Tuxford United (boys U-9), AC Reds (boys U-11), Chaddy End (boys U-13), Hyde Villa (boys U-14), Halton (girls U-10), Blackpool FC (girls U-11 and U-12), Manchester City (girls U-13) and Burnley FC (girls U-14).
Poynton JFC are an FA Charter Standard Community Club that caters for boys and girls from six to 18.
