Pride in defeat

PRESTBURY were the runners-up in the over-35 category in the national squash finals.
The local quintet were beaten 4-1 by Connaught, a particularly strong team from London.
Scott Parkinson, playing at number four, was the only winner for Prestbury.
Jason Morris, playing at number five, just lost 3-2 but Glen Ragou, Mike Lomas and Andy Holmes all lost 3-0 against very accomplished opponents.
Nevertheless, it was a fine achievement by a provincial team to reach the prestigious event in Nottingham.
They overcame David Lloyd Manchester, Leeds side Chappel Allerton, and strong sides from Wigan and Oxford to earn a place in the finals.
