LOCAL kick-boxer Rob Jones has claimed two international titles in what may be his in-ring swansong, as he considers hanging up his gloves.
The fourth-degree black belt, who fine-tunes his skills at G’s Gym, brought home the World Amateur Kick-Boxing Association (WAKO) and European Martial Arts (EMA) championships.
Jones, from Delamere Drive, was also runner-up in the World Amateur Karate Association (WAKA) and World United Martial Arts (WUMA) divisions.
The black sash whu-shu expert successfully retained the EMA title he won last year but is currently nursing an injury and will decide on his future in the New Year.
The Welsh National title holder, who first took up the sport 14 years ago, said: “I’ve got a groin problem now and it’s taking me longer to recover.
“I always said I’d retire at 31, so I’ll decide when I’m fit again, which should be around the New Year.”
He may be swayed back into action by an invite to join the English WUMA squad, which would be his eighth year representing his country at events around the world.
“I’ve had plenty of third places in the past, so I might have one last go,” he added.
