Is Lakey Bolton-bound?

28/11/2007

MACCLESFIELD’S physiotherapist Paul Lake may be about to leave the club after being offered the position of assistant physio at Bolton Wanderers.

‘Lakey’ was a Manchester City team-mate of Ian Brightwell’s during their FA Youth Cup triumph in 1986.

Widely tipped as a future England captain, he became a physio after a hugely promising career at City was cut short in 1990 by a succession of devastating knee ligament injuries that required countless operations before he was cruelly forced to retire from the game.

New Bolton boss Gary Megson, a former team-mate of Lake and Brightwell, has offered Lake the post and Moss Rose staff are making plans in preparation for his expected departure in the near future.

"It’s a great opportunity for Paul to join a Premiership club and, if he were to take the job, we would of course wish him every success," said chief executive Patrick Nelson.
