Asquith aspiring to glory

31/10/2007

BROKEN Cross sailor James Asquith has taken his next step towards gaining national honours by being selected for the RYA Topper West Zone squad.

The 13-year-old was one of just 25 sailors selected to take part in the England-wide programme, which was established with the aim of improving talented youth and junior sailors’ chances of success in World and European competitions.

The Redesmere Sailing club member will embark upon five weekends of intense winter training before setting his sails and his sights on next season’s competitions, the North West Traveller series, summer’s Topper World Championships, which will be held in Ireland, and the nationals, which will take place in Paignton.

  • ANY local companies interested in sponsoring James are asked to contact Nick on 07818 054039.
