EAST Cheshire League’s committee will hold crisis talks this week after the resignations of two more teams.

With Weaver, Lindow and two Poynton Nomads teams making their exits, there are now just nine teams remaining.

The turmoil meant that only three games took place this weekend but they were packed full of incident, great goals and plenty of passion.

Club AZ 4 Puss in Boots 5

This was a remarkable match that left spectators from both sides with frayed nerves.

Lee McIntyre opened the scoring for Puss on six minutes but AZ’s Jake McGarry levelled on 25 minutes.

Puss found their shooting boots and scored three in fifteen minutes through McIntyre, Terry Costello and Simon Band.

McGarry, Beighton and Manion levelled for AZ but Simon Ainsworth’s dribble ended with the winner three minutes from time.

Old Alts Vets 2 Poynton Kingfisher 1

The Vets got off to a solid start to the season as they deservedly took all three points at Crossford Bridge.

Luke Murray gave the visitors an early lead but a superb volley in the second half from Jacky Evans brought the home side level.

With the game seemingly heading for a draw Ian Hunt settled it with a late winner.

Mary Dendy 3 Old Alts 1

With players returning from injury, Dendy enjoyed a routine win as midfielders Rick Tolley and Chris Coppenhall starred.

The pair scored an early goal each and Mark Parker scored the third in the second half.

Chris Edgerton notched a late consolation for Old Alts.
