SOCCER: Recent Macc Town signing Neil Ross will get amongst the goals sooner rather than later.

That's the view of Silkmen boss David Moss, who acknowledges the £30,000 signing from Stockport County hasn't made the happiest start at the Moss Rose since his arrival last month.

Despite Ross looking a little out-of-sorts at Bristol Rovers on Saturday, manager Moss is convinced that the big front-man will get it right soon.

Moss said: "Neil is back to full fitness now, but he is a bit short on confidence at the moment.

"He's come into a team that unfortunately hasn't created too many chances for him, but Neil will be okay.

"The opportunities don't seem to be coming his way at present, but he's a young lad and he'll come good.

"He's only 20, but there was a lot of expectation on his shoulders when he arrived here.

"The situation was the same when Tippy (Matthew Tipton) arrived at the club, it took him a while to get on the scoresheet.

"I feel for strikers sometimes, but Neil is not walking around with his head down.

"He's working hard in games and on the training pitch, and he's settled in well here."

Moss later added Ross will certainly not be the last capture of the season.

"I'm always on the look-out for players," he said.

"I haven't ruled out strengthening the squad further before the transfer deadline is up at the end of next month."
