After winning the North West area qualifier in April, Macclesfield and District Riding Club's junior team had a fantastic result in the British finals.

The Macclesfield quartet finished fourth in the British Riding Clubs National Hunter Trials Finals held at Aston-le-Walls, Northamptonshire, on Sunday, June 3.

The team competed against 16 teams from across the UK.

The MDRC team - Nicola Booth riding Jayne's Pride, Amelia-Kate Smith riding Colourwaves, Nikki Moores riding Humble Traveller and Holly Neat riding Bowhaylands Mix N Match - were all on great form and completed the course with the minimum of penalties.

The fabulous day was made even more special by an exceptional performance by the youngest team member.

Holly Neat, who is 12 years old and was riding one of the smallest ponies at the competition, made everybody proud by achieving an individual sixth place out of 80 competitors taking part.

Despite her only instruction being to return safe and sound, Holly achieved a super clear round, very close to the target optimum time.

The club's next team event will see four teams competing at the One-Day-Event North West area qualifier in June.
