Wilmslow High School hit the heights in the region’s recent trampolining championships.

Over 350 trampolinists from Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester competed in this year’s Northwest Schools Trampoline competition, which was held at Macclesfield Leisure Centre.

All nine teams from the Holly Road school that entered finished in the top three.

Seven teams in all qualified for the next round, which is to be held in Northern Ireland.

For the first time two girls novice teams, the Under-15s and Under-19s, qualified. Unfortunately the Under-13 novice girls team missed out by the narrowest of margins, 0.1 of a mark.

All five of the boys teams – the Under-13 novice, Under-15 novice and elite teams and Under-19 novice and elite teams – finished first, securing them the North West title.

Individually, seven Wilmslow competitors finished in the top three in their age group.

With some having 55 competitors in it, this is a great achievement.

Will Powell and Ben Roberts both landed first places, while Tom Mellor and Alex Powell each came second and Harry Riches, Jack G Jackson and Chris Davies all came a highly respectable third.

Other outstanding achievements came from Ava Johnson, Rachel Bond, Sara Howells, Ellie Riches, Vicki Cragg, who all finished in the top 10. Matt Crawford, Jack Perry, Ryan Wood all came fourth.

Coach Hilary Pemberton said: "The results speak for themselves. It was a great competition from all and the training paid off.

"A big thank you to our officials Rick Price, Anna Cragg, Rose Cragg, Ann Powell, my PA Mrs Perry and all the parents who turned out to support all our Wilmslow teams."
