THE cricket season's half-way point on Saturday was marked by the first wash-out, with barely a ball being bowled.

Alderley Edge's challenge in the Right Move Abroad Cheshire County Cricket League has seen them consolidate a mid-table spot in the Premier Division.

Edge have just three outright wins and 138 points from their 10 games so far this season, and enter the second half of the campaign in seventh spot.

The Moss Lane outfit were left to rue the weather, which prevented any play against second-bottom Christleton, a game they could have expected to take a significant points haul from.

Alderley face a trip to eighth-placed Nantwich next weekend.

THE MELLER Braggins Cheshire League was also rained off, with all 18 games in Divisions One, Two and Three being abandoned.

THE CHESHIRE Cricket Alliance saw one game played, as Eastham beat Capenhurst by one wicket. All teams receive seven points from abandoned matches.
