WILMSLOW were blown away by Davenham as they lost by 10 wickets in the Meller Braggins Cheshire Cricket League division one.

The Handforth Travel-sponsored side slumped to 68 for seven before Neil Rodrigues (36) and Steve Taylor (26) helped Wilmslow reach 153. But Davenham made short work of their reply as Dave Ashley hit an unbeaten 118 in 62 balls.

Mike Harding (40), Andy Warner (37) and Mark Green (38) helped the seconds reach 178 for 8 against Port Sunlight, but that proved to be insufficient as the visitors cruised to a six-wicket victory.

Lindow went down by seven wickets against Stretton in division three. Set 147 to win, the visitors' aggressive strokeplay saw them home by seven wickets. Paul Slinn (29) and Andy Hume (28) top-scored for Lindow, but an opening stand of 110 put Stretton on the way to victory.

The seconds maintained their unbeaten start as Rob Fernyhough (54 not out), Alex Kniveton (36) and Dave Kendrick (44no) successfully chased 167 for 8 to complete a six-wicket win. Earlier, skipper Kendrick (3-40) and Homy Masud (3-44) had done the damage with the ball.

A depleted Wilmslow Wayfarers suffered a heavy 137-run home defeat against Grange in the Cheshire Building Society Cricket Alliance division two. The visitors hammered 227 for eight, despite the efforts of Asim Shah (3-34), before the young Wayfarers batting line-up was skittled for 90.

The seconds team lost in the last over at Grange. James Bennett struck 90 as Wayfarers set the hosts 186, but Grange scraped home with 190 for nine. Jason Hanagan had impressive figures of 6-82.
