Victoria Pendleton will go for gold in three events at this summer’s Olympics insisting she will not prioritise one discipline over the others.

The Wilmslow-based veteran competes in her third and final Olympics in London aiming to add to her sprint gold in Beijing four years ago.

She does so with the hope of not only defending her title but also pursuing gold in the team sprint and keirin disciplines, but will be treating all three events evenly.

“Training for three events is exactly the same because it’s not like I can add three times as much training to my programme,” said the 31-year-old.

“In the World Championships I’ve always competed in all three anyway so my training schedule has not worked any differently to how it has compared with the past because

I’ve always had those events.

“In terms of prioritising events, I don’t really have a strict priority.

“I’m just going to attack each one as it comes and give it 100 per cent because you can’t really have a favourite.

“The team sprint is something I really enjoy but the individual sprint obviously means a lot more to me, in terms of it being the event I’ve always focused on. They all have different values.”

Pendleton added: “Training is going really well.

“I’ve been in quite a big building phase since the World Championships and I’ve had really positive results, so I’m really looking forward to it.

“I couldn’t have asked for more, really.

“Hopefully, I’ll peak at the right time.”
