LACROSSE: Title-chasing Wilmslow snatched a dramatic draw against Stockport, their arch-rivals, in the Men’s North of England League Premier Division last weekend.

The Styal Road club, the defending champions, shared the spoils in a 10-10 draw with their fellow title-chasers.

But trailing 10-9 with not long remaining the final quarter, the hosts had to pull a late equalising goal out of the bag.

Chris Mountney scored the equaliser and starred with a hat-tricks for the hosts.

Dan Green, Robert Messenger and Tommy Foster all bagged braces for Wilmslow, while Mark Reynolds was also on the scoresheet.

James Perrin weighed in with five important assists but, having led 3-2 after the first quarter, the home team could not pull away.

Paul Fullerton, the former England international, impressed for Stockport with seven goals.

Mike Jordan, somewhat surprisingly, struggled in the face-offs, winning just eight of the 22 he contested, while Chris Bland won 14 from 18 for the visitors.

A fiery game saw Stockport concede 13 minutes of penalties, while Wilmslow had six minutes of penalties.

On Sunday the two sides clash again, this time in the Referee’s Trophy Final.

The match starts at 2pm at Manchester Waconians Lacrosse Club, Wilmslow Road, Didsbury. Free entry.
