l STYAL Golf Club has built up a great reputation for producing top class junior talent with its excellent facilities and coaching opportunities, with their finest product being David Horsey, who is already making a huge impression in his first full year as a professional.

Now they have another outstanding young player in 13-year-old Charlotte Leathem (pictured left) who looks to be heading for the top in Cheshire girls golf.

Charlotte’s dad Andrew was the Styal Captain a couple of years ago and he encouraged her to take up the game and since then she has gone from strength to strength with her handicap having reduced by 10 shots in the last 12 months from 17 to seven.

Charlotte, who is a student at Wilmslow High School said: "I put down the improvement in my handicap to practice, determination and the fantastic training from Styal’s director of golf, Glynn Traynor.

"The junior boys have also been a great encouragement.

"My ultimate ambition is to become a professional golfer but my immediate goal is to get my handicap down to scratch before my 16th birthday in three years’ time.

"I would like to follow in the footsteps of David Horsey, who is such a great inspiration to all of the juniors at Styal."
