MACCLESFIELD Town will have their full allocation of 4,500 fans cheering them on when they face Chelsea in next month's FA Cup tie.

Macc fans have been queuing at the club to get their tickets for the third-round match, which takes place at Stamford Bridge on Saturday January 6.

Just three days after going on general sale, the final available tickets have now been snapped up, and a convoy of dozens of coaches will transport the thousands of Blues supporters to west London for the club's money-spinning tie at the home of the Premiership champions.

Club chairman Rob Bickerton said: "The fact that our allocation of tickets has been sold in such a short space of time is fantastic news.

"To be honest though, the Chelsea game is more of a pleasant distraction from the league and I'm sure it will be a much nicer day out if we are back among the pack by January 6, and I think we're on course to do so."

Macc's Chief Executive, Patrick Nelson, was also delighted with the ticket success.

He added: "This is great news for the club, I'm looking forward to seeing the biggest concentration of Macclesfield Town supporters in recent years.

"The whole Shed End will be full of Macc fans for the game, and I can't wait to see it. We estimate that around 65 coaches will be needed to transport all our supporters to Chelsea, which we will be laying on for free."

Everyone at the club is hopeful that the success will be mirrored in improved league attendances at the Moss Rose.

Patrick Nelson added: "The fact that 4,500 tickets have been sold in a matter of days is very encouraging, and I hope that we'll get a good crowd this week."
