WILMSLOW Scorpions held the second of their two-part Christmas Sprints club gala evenings.

The event gives youngsters a chance to experience swimming competitively within a friendly, home club environment.

All children capable of swimming 25m competently – Group Six and above – are eligible to enter races.

Each child was presented with a memento of their swim and medals were awarded for placed swimmers.

Additional awards were presented for those who have improved their times by the greatest margin since last year’s Sprints.

The galas were well attended with swimmers cheered on by supportive parents. Several children achieved new personal best times.

The club also took the opportunity to award trophies to the successful Scorpions who took part in the ‘Tadpoles’ Gala held earlier in the year at Grand Central pool in Stockport.

Wilmslow Scorpions is a thriving and friendly club, with almost 300 children enrolled. Members can start learning to swim and improving their basic techniques, progressing all the way through to the senior squad members who swim in competitive galas, including a local ‘friendly’ league and Cheshire Championships.

‘Badge’ night took place earlier this month for the younger members working through their swimming milestones.
