Issy Centeleghe won gold and silver medals en route to swimming her way to progressing through the Olympic qualifiers at the North West Regional Championships.

Setting two personal best times, Satellites Swimming Club star Issy, from Wilmslow, took gold in the 50m butterfly and silver in the 100m butterfly at the ASA North West Regional Championships and gained a second qualifying time for the British Championships in June which is the second Olympic qualifying meet.

Kindly supported by Evoid Drinks of Poynton, who supplied new racing gear, she now goes to Sheffield’s Ponds Forge arena to compete in the 50m and 100m butterfly events.

Issy’s Satellites team-mates also performed well with five medals gained and 15 finals reached in total.

Katie Bennett took bronze in the 200m butterfly and the 200m individual medley, while Tom Arkle was another bronze medallist in the 50m breaststroke.

Tom Arkle, Patrick Devaney, Matt Proffitt and Tom Guillon put up a respectable fight in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay, coming eighth.

Katie also gained her national qualifying time in the 400m individual medley.
