Mottram Hall’s head of golf Tim Hudspith was delighted to meet up with golfing legend Peter Alliss at the launch of a pioneering golf membership scheme for the De Vere group.

Tim said: "Peter is the honorary captain of the De Vere Club and it was a real pleasure to meet up with him to launch a scheme that is accessible, flexible and family friendly for the 21st century.

"We are staging open weekends on April 10 and 11 to show off the facilities and new package on offer at Mottram Hall."

Macclesfield’s European Tour star Jamie Donaldson produced his best finish of the season to date when he tied sixth in the event in Malaga.

He finished with a flawless 67 for an 11-under-par return.

In the same competition Styal’s David Horsey failed to make the cut for the first time in seven competitions, but he did notch his second hole-in-one in three months with an ace on the sixth hole.

Back at Styal in a singles Stableford Jeffrey Chadwick took Division One with 42 points, one more than Jonathan Dorsett.

B McCaffrey led in Division Two with 41 points from Martin Mullins (39).

In a seniors Stableford at Styal Ged Harrison was the main man with 41 points from Geoff Parkin (40) and Peter Chorlton (39).

The latest round of the Styal Ladies Winter League saw Sue Forster first past the post with 36 points from Veronica Almond and Sue Grange (both 34).

A Thursday Stableford at Shrigley Hall saw Andrew Stubbens in impressive form with 41 points ahead of Martin Firth (39) and Don Farquharson (35).

Medal action for Wilmslow’s men saw Division One taken by RC Holmes with a neat 66 ahead of NE Stewart (67).

In Division Two R Ashworth led in with 73 after winning a cpo from Jan Sztukowski, S Burrows and J Swallow.

Davenport’s men played a Team of Four Stableford and winning with 90 points were Tim Slinger, Russ Siddall, Nigel Potts and Dave Ludlow.

Next in on 88 were Ray Brown, Mike Clewley, Rueben Fielding and Anthony Waterhouse.

Good team wins for Davenport saw them beat Hazel Grove 4.5–0.5 in the Mail on Sunday national competition and they followed this with an Alliance mens foursomes win, 5–2 over Heaton Park.

Davenport assistant professional Graham Cox kept up his current run of good form as he notched up his second win in the last three meetings as the Manchester Alliance resumed betterball Stableford action at Birchwood.

Cox partnered club amateur colleague Fraser McLachlan to a winning 46 points in the pro-am section to finish three points clear of Gatley pro Jon Cheetham and his Swinton Park partner John Riley.

Fairfield pro Steve Pownell and amateur John Bell completed the winner’s frame with 42 points.

In the am-am section Blackley’s Julien Robinson and Alan Lane were in unstoppable form as they cruised to a superb 46 points in the am-am section.

A blistering back nine that included eight birdies, seven from Lane, set up the winning score that left them four points clear of Blackley colleagues Vinny Doyle and Steve Newton with home pair Ian Padmore and Ian Burrows in third spot with 41 points.
