League leaders Macclesfield grabbed a great point against Wigan - who fielded a strong side.

Wigan's side featured first team stars like Pat McGibbon, Neil Roberts, Michael Clegg and Ian Nolan, who between them would cost around £1m.

The game provided a stalemate, Wigan's David Moore forced a great save from Silkmen'keeper Lee Martin after breaking through on goal during the first half.

The result leaves Macclesfield six points clear of second-place Hull City, both having played nine games.

Latics reserve team manager Chris Hutchings told the club's website: "We had a number of pros in the side, with the likes of Pat McGibbon, Ian Nolan, Paul Mitchell, Ian Johnson, Ben Kay and Neil Roberts, so there was a lot of experience in the side."
