Former Davenport junior and now a PGA professional Danny Midgelow has achieved one of his career dreams with the opening of the On The Tee Golf Academy.

The state-of-the-art facility is handily placed on the Stanley Green Trading Estate just off the A34 bypass in Cheadle Hulme.

Danny, who had a fine career as a junior and amateur at Davenport and Disley Golf Clubs, turned professional at 18 years of age and, working as the assistant professional at Northenden, passed his PGA examinations at the age of 21 and playing wise he has had a win on the Players Tour.

Danny said: "I have always had a strong passion for coaching since I began my PGA course and setting up my own academy is a dream come true for me.

"It allows me to create my own identity as a coach which is important for my methods and techniques in improving the golf game of players of all abilities.

"The On The Tee Academy offers the full package – an indoor heated swing analysis studio fitted with high tech GASP video analysis coaching equipment.

"The facility has a comfortable seating area and I would be delighted for anyone to pop in for a coffee and a chat about their game. I also offer driving range, short game, playing and group lessons for children, ladies as well as beginners.

"Also the indoor coaching studio is available for other professionals to hire and use with their clients.

"I am also offering a free taster lesson as part of a ‘Six for Five’ price."

In the Mottram Hall Classic medal Wasim Ahktar led in with 73 from Laurie Thornton 73, and 75’s from Nigel Craig and Stuart Eley.

Macclesfield ladies had a great result in their first match of the CCLGA Scratch League when they took on Portal at home.

After Sue Walton had lost her first match by 2/1, Macc hit back with wins from Sue Orwin one up and Myra Clark by the same margin for a dramatic 2/1 win.

Macc ladies played for the 2000 Cup and it was won by Christine Gleaves with a 65 from Susan Gibbon’s 67 and 68’s from June Sumner, Margaret Milligan and Anita Hall.

Macc’s men were in medal mode and DF Bye led in with a red hot 63 from Dr Mike Baker (65) and L Forrester (66).

A Wednesday medal at Styal was taken by John Chorlton after a cpo on 69 with H Dickson with Steve James a shot off the pace.

Jens Walton was out on his own in a Sunday Stableford at Styal with his 44 points seeing him five clear of Tony Francis and G Hammond.

Mike Eccles was the Styal seniors star winning a singles stableford at a canter as his 43 points saw him four better than Terry Bell, Brian Humphreys and Ged Harrison.

Styal ladies played a singles medal and Joan Doyle was top of the shop with 69 from Sue Binks (71) and Sue Margetts (72).

The latest round of the Styal ladies Sunday Cup had Rose McCormack firmly in charge with 24 points from Chris Pogson (18).

The Thursday stableford at Shrigley Hall needed a cpo on 37 points to see Roger White to top spot ahead of Peter Will.

Peter Will had to be content again for the runners-up berth in a Mixed stableford, being a point behind leader Steve Marsh who had 41 points with Terri Danisevich top lady with 38 points.

A two–division stableford at Shrigley had John Phillips on top of Division One with 43 points, eight clear of the field. In Division Two Gordon Leach led with 39 points from Arun Mehta (37) and Peter Beckett (36).
