Lindow 3 Old Alts 2

LINDOW came from two down to squeeze out a victory as Old Alts threatened an East Cheshire League shock.

Kenneth McCallum and Ian Hunt had given the visitors a two-goal lead.

However, with the excellent Nick Russell's prompting from midfield, Lindow's John Crawley and Harry Wheatman scored.

Wheatman struck the winner late in the game.

Club AZ 6 Alderley St Phillips 1

CHRIS Powell's second hat-trick in two games inspired Club AZ to the biggest win of the day.

Club AZ had some goal scoring problems earlier in the season but Powell's arrival seems to have sorted that out.

Simon Richards, Clive Bayley and Mike Hamlett got the other goals for them, and Graham Lawrence got the Alderley consolation.

AZ have quietly moved into fifth place in the league, with a game in hand on some of the teams above.

I am sure that they will be in the top few at the end of the season.

Mary Dendy 3 Royal Oak 4

LUKE Wild and Brigg Simpson scored before half time to put Royal Oak in control.

Simpson then added his second shortly after the interval and a great free kick from Jimmy Baskerville made it four.

Earlier in the season, this would have ended in a drubbing for the Dendy lads.

But they are now more like the Dendy team we have come to recognise over the past few years, and they fought back well. John Malkin got a hat-trick - one with a fair bit of help from Jimmy Baskerville - and Oak had a very uncomfortable last five minutes.

Referee Brian Clowes was his usual excellent self.

The Royal Oak remain unbeaten and are looking a strong bet to win the league this season.

Poynton Nomads Res 3 Bollington 5

BOLLINGTON'S forwards gave the Nomads defence a torrid time.

Emlyn Hughes scored twice, as did Neil Wakefield, and Jamie Buckland got the other.

Robin Wadley, Kelvin Stout and Chris Hennessey got the goals for Nomads, but it was too late.

Poynton RBL 1 Boarhound 5

THESE two teams were the early leaders of the league - but are finding the pace a little hot now.

RBL's weakened side found themselves three down at half-time.

Boarhound's scorers were Paul Jones, Martin Firth - with a hat-trick - and Dave Short. Wayne Lauder scored for RBL.

Robin Hood 2 Poynton FC 2

IAN Potts scored first and last for Robin as Poynton came within minutes of victory.

Taylor and Dockerty gave the young Poynton lads the lead before Potts equalised.

Aaron Lofthouse was the man of the match for the Robin and referee Dave Benson had a good game.

Wilmslow Ath 3 Puss FC 4

A PULSATING game saw Wilmslow take a two-goal lead with goals from David Dyer and Richard Condliffe.

The Puss then clawed the scores level with two from Stan Hall.

Mark Cranney gave Puss the lead before Jason Fairfield, who had an excellent game for Wilmslow, equalised.

Football can be very cruel, and for all the effort of Wilmslow, it was Mark Cranney who nipped in for the Puss and snatched all three points in the last minutes.
