THE President’s Day Trophy is one of the most coveted pieces of silverware at Shrigley Hall and this year the delighted winner was John Stewart.

Stewart posted an impressive 82-12-70 winning card and received his prize from the Shrigley Park club’s president, James Smethurst.

Pressing Stewart hard were Mike Powell (71) and Julian Millard and Paul Bishop (both 72).

Knock-out final action at Davenport saw a cracking men’s singles final won by Chris Pollard against Keven Martin with Pollard posting a superb nett 64 to Martin’s fine 67.

The fourball final was won by Ken France and former Morecambe footballer Fraser McLaughlin, who beat Darren Staff and Ian Hetherington.

Davenport’s first winter stroke-play competition saw Steve Johnson win a card play-off on 68 from Chris Massey in Division One.

It also needed a cpo on 66 to see Simon Firmin home in Division Two from resurgent club captain Jim Carr.

The score of the day came in Division Three from winner David Tate with a nett 63, three ahead of Peter Green (66).

President’s Day at Alderley Edge was won by A Slater on 65 from James Allen (67) and P Elliott and G Swindells (68).

The second round of the autumn meeting at Wilmslow had A Marr on top in Division One on 69, three clear of M Robins and JG Donald.

TB Roberts was out on his own in Division Two on 67, from J Sutton (72) and HK Goddard (74).

Singles Stableford action for Styal’s ladies saw Adrienne Mills win with 32 points from Yee Lee (30) and Jenny Merren (27).

A seniors stableford at Styal saw a cpo on 38 points taken by David Fitzgerald from Wally Tibbitts, with David Marriott and John Kemp next in on 36.
