Wilmslow High School’s U18, U16 and U14 hockey teams have made school history by securing a place in the National North Hockey Finals for their respective age groups.

Each team won their mini league pool to set up semi-final deciders against some of the best schools currently in the North West.

The U14s captained by Anna Perry, won their semi-final comfortably thanks to a 9-0 win in their game against Windermere.

The U16s had to overcome a penalty flick decider against Altrincham Grammar after drawing in their semi-final.

They eventually clinched the win 3-2 thanks to some excellent saves from their goalkeeper Eleanor Lane.

The U18s faced local rivals Cheadle Hulme, winning 3-1 courtesy of goals from Ruby Peters, Sioned Davies and Molly Evans.

All teams are now ranked in the top eight in the North of England and will now play over the course of the next two weeks for a place in the National Finals.

Coaches Fiona Ryan and Kayleigh Humphreys said: "We are delighted with the work and commitment from all squads.

"We would like to wish all teams the very best of luck and hope they can build on their successes to earn Wilmslow a place in the National Finals."
