WILMSLOW Hockey Club ended the season on a high with league titles and promotions galore.

The Oakwood Farm club toasted their men’s first and second squads after both won their respective leagues, while the top two ladies teams gained promotions.

The men’s firsts had already won Division Two with games to spare before the seconds sealed the Division Seven (South) title with a 5-2 away win over a strong South Cheshire thirds side.

Goals from Sam Holt, James Bell and Phil Roberts gave them the valuable three points.

The ladies firsts needed a win to ensure second-place and promotion from Cheshire Division Two and they didn’t disappoint, winning 3-0 at South Cheshire.

Steph Ormerod, Chloe Tyler and Fiona Ryan scored the goals that ensured their promotion.

The ladies seconds lost 3-1 to Chester thirds but had already guaranteed second place and promotion from Division Four.

This season has been one of the best in the recent history of the club and it’s no coincidence that it happened in the year that Wilmslow introduced a new coaching team headed by Dave Egerton.

The players have also benefited hugely from top quality goal-keeping coaching and fitness training.

This has lead to an increase in playing standards across all the squads and the club are looking to build on this next season with the formation of additional teams.
