STYAL'S young golf star Jade Evans has won a dream call-up for Cheshire Juniors.

The 15-year-old 13-handicapper who, along with sister Zoe, has been a Styal member for five years, has made her mark on the county circuit, playing regularly for the Cheshire girls team.

Evans will represent Cheshire Juniors in Menorca in the inaugural challenge match against the Balearic Islands Federation Juniors in a Ryder Cup format.

Five boys and five girls in different age groups will fly the flag for Cheshire at Son Parc Golf Club, thanks to club owner and competition sponsor Hugh Brown.

Joining her will be Bramhall's Hannah Davies and Bronte Law.

  • STYAL seniors played a singles stableford and John Higson was out on his own with 38 points from Jack Scott (35) and Bob Clayton (34).

Wednesday action at Styal saw a singles stableford that Gerry Cathcart won with 42 points.

A two-division stableford at Styal saw Adrian Dobson in charge of Division One with 41 points from Mark Holland (40) and Tommy McCormack and Tom Dean. M Mason led Division Two with 40.

Wilmslow's men played for the Doctor's Tankard and leading the field was W Shaw with 39 points from T Barnes (38), Carl Nowicki and M Warburton (both 37).
