YOUNG boxers from Macc Boys’ Boxing Club will be put through their paces this week when the club stages its annual showcase.

The young fighters will take over the Wilmslow Leisure Centre, Rectory Fields, on Friday at 7.30pm, for the fifth annual fight night, which promises to be up to 15 exciting bouts for hundreds of keen fight fans.

Head coach Kevin Bradbury and his team devote many evenings to training youngsters at the Club’s Park Green premises and, this year, more than 20 junior boxers are expected to take to the ring.

They range in age from 11-year-olds  Liam Hinkley and Harry Thomson to 28-year-old Stephen Dudley Brown.

Council officials Erika Wenzel and Frank Keegan will attend and will select the boxer of the night.

Kevin said: “This is probably one of the best shows in the our region, with the opportunity for the borough to come and support young kids.

“They have trained relentlessly for the last six weeks, putting in the work just to try to ensure victory in front of their home crowd.”

Tickets, priced £10 each, are available  from the Leisure Centre box office, (01625 522275) or via Jez Hough on 07747 566248.
