MACCLESFIELD Town manager Keith Alexander is hoping a "little bit of luck in front of goal" will get the Silkmen’s season back on track this Saturday.

Macc had a number of chances to heap more misery on struggling Grimsby Town on Saturday but spurned opportunities meant that they were forced to settle for a point from the 0-0 draw, their fourth stalemate in five league games.

Striker Ben Wright, who has yet to score since his summer move to the Moss Rose, was denied by an offside flag and Emile Sinclair missed a golden opportunity to score in the first half.

Colin Daniel hit the post and Matty Tipton and Ricky Sappleton couldn’t convert their late chances.

"We created enough chances to win more than one game, we just need that little bit of luck in front of goal," said Alexander.

"We’ve taken a little bit of extra time working with the forwards in training this week, although it’s not just strikers who need to score for us.

"They can score in training, but we’ve just not been able to transfer that onto the pitch.

"The fact that Ben Wright hasn’t scored for us yet is disappointing him, much more so than it is me.

"What he does is win his headers and get hold of the ball, and when you’re playing you need somebody who can do that, but obviously we need him to score as well."

Macc travel to Rochdale on Saturday hoping to end their impressive winning run. Dale have registered victories over Dagenham, Notts County and Bradford in their last three league outings.
