SOCCER: Wilmslow Albion Reserves 3 East Manchester Reserves 0

Albion have now moved into second place in the Air Miles Manchester League Division Two and lie four points behind leaders Atherton with four games in hand.

East Manchester put up stubborn resistance until Nathan Buller broke the deadlock on the half hour by hitting a well struck shot into the bottom corner of the net.

After the break, Charlie Faughnan made the score 2-0 with a superb drive into the roof of the net from ten yards out.

Ray Nevins made it 3-0 when he charged down the keeper's clearance.

Nevins had what looked like another perfectly good goal disallowed as did Paul Splaine.

This Saturday the reserves play Wythenshawe Amateurs Reserves and the first team - who had no fixture last week - are at home to Whitworth Valley (kick-off 2.30pm).

Albion ladies had a bleak afternoon at Hough End Playing Fields when they lost 6-0 to a Greater Manchester Police ladies team.

The Sunday team lost 3-2 to East Levenshulme in the semi-final of the league cup.

The Youth team had another great win to consolidate their top position in the NW Alliance League after beating Whitton Albion 2-1.
