THE Royal Oak are again starting the season strongly thanks to another impressive win, this time a 5-1 thumping of Old Alts at Crossford Bridge in Sale.

Goalscorers were Tim Hammond (2), Neil Smith, Liam Hadfield and Sean Gill.

The Boarhound have also started well and in Carl Barlow look to have found an excellent goalscorer. Having hit four last week, Barlow obliged again and hit a hat-trick against Poynton FC who appear to be struggling this season. The 5-0 scoreline didn't tell the full story as further goals from Jordan Gregory and Andy Foot sealed Poynton's fate.

Last week's defeat against Bollington only appeared to inspire Club AZ as they brought Lindow's run of back-to-back victories to an end in a classic encounter. Lindow took the lead through their pacy frontman Tommy Gill, but they found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline by half time - Will Beighton, Steve Whitehead and Jason Ray netting for AZ.

Further goals saw Gill complete his hat-trick, but AZ weren't finished and goals from Paul Bethel, Jonny Norris and Will Beighton secured the points.

Alderley St Phillips continued their fine early-season form with a battling 2-1 victory away at Old Alts Vets. Gary Fitts scoring for the Vets.

Possibly the surprise of the weekend saw Poynton Nomads A draw 0-0 with Juno at Deva Close.

Nomads' manager Paul Burch said: "It was a nothing match really, I cannot even remember either goalkeeper having a save to make!"

Nomads B fared better in the goalscoring department, however, after sharing six goals with Mary Dendy and claiming a welcome point.

Leading 2-0 at the interval through a brace from Tom Edbrooke, Nomads faced a reorganised Dendy side in the second half and the arrears were reduced as Andy Currie converted a penalty to make it 2-1. Tom Gaskell extended Nomad's lead with a fine header, but a brace from Matty Morris secured a point for Dendy.
