MACCLESFIELD Golf Club has a new star on the greens - Natalie Lowe - who set a club course record last month.

The club, situated in The Hollins, boasts a proud record of junior success over the years, including European Tour star Jamie Donaldson.

Their new up-and-coming talent is last year's junior captain Natalie, who harbours ambitions to follow a career in golf as a professional on the ladies' tour.

Natalie has already made her mark at county level with Cheshire juniors enjoyed a good record of success, including a recent win at her own course in a Cheshire junior girls event.

She also set a new mark at Macclesfield with a ladies and junior record of 66 in July.

The young star will be flying a fair way this month, as she begins a new college course on the other side of the Atlantic.

Natalie, who also plays football for Stockport Ladies, first picked up a club four years ago and has a current handicap of 3.6.

She became interested in the game through her father Pete, a member at Cavendish Golf Club and since then he has seen his daughter's game go from strength to strength.

Natalie said: "I have just finished my A levels at Fallibroome High School in Biology, PE and Pyschology.

"I have been offered a golf scholarship at a university in America and I'll be taking it up in August, with my main subject being physiotherapy.

"As well as my studies I will be able to practice my golf every day in ideal conditions and also play in college tournaments and matches across the USA.

"It's a great opportunity for me to develop my golf and career and I intend to make the most of it over the next four years."
