FOLLOWING success in the UK bodybuilding Championships, three powerhouses from Macclesfield will pit their collective muscle against the best of British later this month.
Paul Norton, Jazz Miralles and Simon Ackroyd each brought home a title from the UK Federation of Body Builders finals, held at Leamington Spa in September.
The trio each came first in their category, Norton in the 40-and-over age category, Miralles in the 80-kilo-and-lower category and Ackroyd in the 90-kilo-plus weight group.
The success of the Macc lads, all representing G’s Gym in Fountain Street, in the last of eight qualifiers for the British honours means that they will take their place in the finals in Nottingham in a bid to add the Great Britain crowns to their hauls.
The format, which served the Macc contingent well in the UK qualifier, involves a random posedown, two-minute individuals’ free-pose and a comparison section alongside their contemporaries.
G’s Gym owner Gary Rollinson, himself a British Masters Champion, said: "The lads have done absolutely brilliantly, to have three qualifiers in the Great Britain finals is a great achievement, it’s a first for the club and a first for Macclesfield."
