CHEERLEADING squad Maximum Cheer returned from their first national event with great results.
The Macc-based squad’s Gold team took second place at the event at the Manchester Velodrome, while the Diamonds (10 to 12-year-olds) and Gems (six-to-nine-year-olds) also came second in their team event, the former by a single point, deducted for a dropped pom-pom.
Maximum Cheer did come first in the stunt section and won the spirit award for good sportsmanship.
Coach Rachael Burrows said: "They worked really hard to learn the stunts. "They have to practice so much for the high-level stunts and they did really well in their first national championship."
