SOCCER: Macclesfield Town 4 Swansea City 1

The sensational Silkman disposed of Swansea with a four-goal blast in seven second half minutes.

The game was goal-less on the hour mark with Macc having missed a glut of chances in the opening half.

But when the hour mark arrived Chris Byrne opened Macc's account with a forceful header.

By the time he added his second seven minutes later Macc were in the hat for the second round, with Lee Glover having bagged a brace in the intervening minutes.

Macclesfield were the stronger team in the first half and should have been in front by the interval as Glover, Byrne, Dick Tracey, Ricky Lambert and Chris Priest failed to break the deadlock.

The floodgates finally opened with Byrne's opener before the impressive Glover turned his marker inside out before drilling home Macc's second goal in the 61st minute.

Three minutes later and Glover collected his second goal with a superb chip over the keeper, off the back of some great work by Lambert.

Byrne's second goal saw the talented midfielder lofting the ball home after latching on to a great Steve Hitchen through ball.

Nick Cusack's volleyed goal in the 85th minute was merely a consolation strike for the Welsh visitors.
