SOCCER: Non-league keeper Rob Hackney has been invited for trials at the Moss Rose.

Hackney has been in splendid form all season for First Northern Western Trains outfit Mossley and would be available for transfer immediately.

Meanwhile, Macclesfield have completed the loan signing of defender Steve Macauley. The Crewe defender begins his second stint at the club this weekend.

Meanwhile, manager David Moss has been giving his views on Eddie Furlong's departure.

"I was very surprised when I heard," said Moss. "At the board meeting I did my little bit regarding the future and then left them to their business.

"I don't think this will affect me or the team. I had the support of the whole board and I hope this will continue.

"It's business as normal as far as I'm concerned. I've had a chat with the players and they were probably shocked.

"But changes happen at football clubs and this one is no different. But it's still sad when these things happen. Eddie's been a major player.

"But I've already spoken with Alan (Cash) and he's given me his support."
