MACCLESFIELD Cricket Club have demanded a personal hearing after they were docked 16 points for fielding an ineligible player.

The Victoria Road club - who will almost certainly be relegated from the ECB Cheshire Premier League should the ban stand - have asked league officials to reconsider their decision to dock points for playing former Alderley Edge teenager Tom Parfett-Manning in a game against Neston in July.

Club secretary Alan Sheratt told Express Sport: "We are concerned with how the league have applied the rigidity of the rules in this case. We have asked for a personal hearing to put forward the details of our case on a one-to-one basis.

"Even league press officer Mike Talbot-Butler said he would rather have the relegation issues decided on and not off the field."

  • POYNTON Cricket Club will host a 20/20 game between a West Indian XI and a Cheshire Select side in aid of long-serving all-rounder Derwin Thompson.

Former Windies test captain Carl Hooper and current stars Tino Best, Dwayne Smith and Corey Collymore will all attend the game alongside local stars Brian Kingham, Simon Turner (Poynton), Danny Ackerley and Sam McTaggart (Macclesfield).

Wickets pitched at 2pm, admission is £3 (£1 concessions).
