CENTRE-HALF Steve Macauley could be missing for up to a fortnight after pulling a calf muscle during last week's 1-0 defeat against Darlington.

The veteran defender was substituted with 30 minutes remaining in last Saturday's game, but is almost certain to miss this weekend's game at Huddersfield and Tuesday night's home game against Swansea City.

Michael Welch is likely to deputise for the former Rochdale and Crewe man alongside Steve Payne for the tough trip to the McAlpine Stadium.

Nigerian international George Abbey looks set to shake off a knee problem to take his place at right-back. Skipper Chris Priest and defender Matt Carragher are also available for selection after training with the rest of the squad this week.
